Sisters in Christ saved my life by taking me in and accepting me during a difficult time in my life. I was homeless, mentally drained, and broken.
In the past year that I have been with Sisters in Christ, I have gained valuable tools to help me live my best life. I have learned to love me, care about myself, and to embrace change.
I am no longer a Sister in Christ (SIC) with low self esteem, depressed, and unsure. I am now a Sister in Christ (SIC) that can (S)ee (I) have (C)hanged.
Ms. Michelle Newton has a unique story that exudes strength and what it means to reclaim her authentic self. Michelle's motto for life is, "If you stay ready, you don't have to get ready." She will celebrate fifty years of life in June and being released from federal prison after serving a three-and-a-half-year sentence.
Michelle is a difference maker, mentor and leader for our sisterhood. She is determined to let women know there is a better way of life. Addiction, mental health issues, or homelessness is not the end of their narrative. Every day, Michelle thanks God for the life she is living today and asks Him to continue giving her the strength to live her best life!
