The mission of Sisters in Christ is to assist women in their transformation by creating and weaving together a cohesive set of resources that promote physical, emotional, financial, and spiritual wholeness.
SIC serves as a resource conduit, personal advocate, and supporter for the women and families we serve.

Our vision is for women and their families of all ethnicities and nationalities to have a sense of life purpose and become their authentic selves by being persistent and taking control of their own destinies.
Our Sisterhood Creed
Sisterhood in itself is a force.
True sisterhood cannot be forced; it is built over time. True sisterhood is established in love, developed with patience, nurtured by reciprocity, and secured by purpose.
Every woman has the capacity to be a sister. Sisters respect each other and support each other. As sisters, we may stumble and fall, but with the help of our sisters, we can be picked up again and restored.
Sisterhood has no boundaries — not race, class, or geography. Sisterhood transcends and transforms us for the betterment of ourselves and our communities.

Our Founder
Carolyn Whitney is the Founder and CEO of Sisters in Christ, a nonprofit organization that has secured more than $1.7 million in grant funding while transforming lives since 1997. What began as a ministry serving women in recovery and reentry has grown into a comprehensive organization providing services for women, youth, families, and communities. With more than 40 years of leadership experience in corporate management, youth behavioral health, and community prevention, Carolyn is recognized for building innovative programs that create lasting change.
Guided by the mission to Prepare. Transform. Elevate., Carolyn has led Sisters in Christ from a small act of faith to a thriving organization that equips individuals with the tools to rebuild their lives, strengthen families, and achieve long-term independence.
This year's Handle Hard Better theme reflects her own life. As she courageously faces cancer, Carolyn continues to lead with unwavering faith, resilience, and purpose. Her testimony reminds others that while cancer is part of her journey, it does not define her—she has cancer, but cancer does not have her.
Recognized by civic organizations, sororities, the Raytown Chamber of Commerce, and the Jackson County Legislature, Carolyn's legacy is one of servant leadership, hope, and the unwavering belief that faith can transform every obstacle into an opportunity.
